FROM A STUDENT TO TEACHER

Whenever you think of going back to school, you think about that bench, the  teacher looking through those lenses, the rush to complete work, the playground, the corridor... and woooo.. the rush that we get when we were passing through the principal's room corridor.  ppphheewww...
But now that i am back to school, i am not here as a student, not in my school, but in some other  school. I am back as a TEACHER.. hmmmm.. a teacher. We used to think ," teacher .. what do they have to do.. come.. lecture.. giving the details of the "good" and "bad" things... etc. ( with d
ue respect)... and go back".

On the contrary, when i look back and analyse those memories, i can now understand ( since i am in their shoes) how difficult it was for them to tackle the situations of a very demanding profession. A profession where you are considered next to GOD... then you are the SURROGATE MOTHER of all the kids of your class. You can't be yourself since you have a moral duty to behave as a role model for those kids who admire you like anything and you have to be role model even  if they hate you ( that too happens but i think its for a good reason).

I remember that there was this huge staff room where all the teachers sat together chatting, chirping ( hopefully not about us!!!) and we used to feel so privileged when we were called by the teacher in that territory. We used to boast this fact that we are a frequent visitor... hihihihihi.

But i can understand now that apart from that chirpiness that room also meant... reports, diaries, lesson plans, competitions,  preparation material, assessment and evaluation and above all correcting notebooks of all those kids, not only of one subject or one class but many many.... and then the pressure of syllabus completion and all those inspections to be judged on the base of those notebooks.
I am a teacher now. Its been long ten years since i had joined this " NOBLE" profession. i have seen the dynamics changing during this decade. but now i have started thinking about writing my experiences as a teacher. i hope you will like them also. i am not a perfect teacher... but i am learning ...

My professor once had said, "WHEN YOU ARE A STUDENT, YOU GO TO SCHOOL TO TEACH. BUT WHEN YOU BECOME A TEACHER, YOU GO TO SCHOOL TO LEARN."

i have come "BACK TO SCHOOL" to learn new things and i am still learning.. and learning ... and learning
to become a better person in my life.
glad that you have read it.

  1. Really opened up my eyes, as I want to retire as a teacher (like do it as a casual job after having lived a life doing a more stimulating and enjoyable job) and I thought it'd be really fun. I've always loved helping others in the education system, especially those in secondary school age ranges. Hmm. Now I need to actually think if I actually have the courage and determination to to complete that job. And by complete I mean get them good grades and secure them a better quality of life. A truly thought-provoking article 👏

  2. I also like the odd capitalisations and frequent incorrect punctuation and spelling. Most input text systems have an inbuilt dictionary/grammar-checker. I'm guessing you're not writing this on your phone- they automatically correct immediately after you press space, so it would take forever to purposefully inject so many errors. I'm guessing you're on a Windows system, so you would know about Autocorrect. Something you may not have known about is if you highlight some text and press "CTRL+J" it carries out the "Justify" function, which nicely formats your blocks of text. Given the accuracy of these tools the vast majority online texts are therefore perfectly formatted. But not this one. I like it
